The Band at Floriade

18/09/2016

The Band organisation came together in spectacular fashion, in mid-September. In partnership with Floriade, the band put together a day long spectacular concert on Stage 88. The day began bright and early with the organisations two newest concert bands: the Canberra City Juniors and Canberra City Youth Band. These young ensembles feature some excellent players, many appearing for the first time in public.

Following the kids was one of CCB's flagship chamber ensembles, the Hoffman Winds, who played with fine style. They were succeeded by a spectacular, Spanish flavoured, performance from the City Band.

Fresh from their success at the New South Wales State Championships, the Hoffman Brass put their best foot forward, and were followed up by the sizzling excitement of Spectrum Big Band and its small Jazz Ensemble. To round out the day, the John Agnew Band wowed the crowd with a selection of challenging popular favourites under the baton of guest conductor, Mister Peter Shaw.

CCB is one of Australia's oldest and most highly decorated concert bands. Canberra City Band was established in 1925 and has a long standing history as the band of Canberra. Regardless of your level, we want to hear from you! We play for a variety of community events throughout the year and if you don't want to play, feel free to come have a listen.
